My Review Of "Planet Earth" On My HDTV

We just bought a Blue ray HD DVD player for our HDTV. After we got it hooked up, which took a while... I, for some reason or another just realized that I did not have any HD movies for me to watch on it. Well I already knew which one I wanted to see first and that was Planet Earth. So I got on the internet and purchased it from an online store.

Of course on our HDTV it looks as good as it possibly can but it gives you a feeling of how small the Earth really is but at the same time when it talks about some of the environments it feels that the world is very large. When you are watching Planet Earth you may get to an environment that they begin to talk about that just looks alien to you. Some of the things that are in the environment look as if it was not real and you can not even imagine about being in some of these places in real life.In the beginning of it, it shows Angel falls... the highest water fall in the world. Then it starts to break off from there and shows the extraordinary animals that live in the freshwater environment. Another thing Planet Earth does is how well it shows the over view of the land. Some shots are taken in high Earth altitudes while others are from space showing the landscape and everything around it. The space shots are also one of my favorite things to look at.The bad thing though is that I had to wait three days; however I did save myself around twenty dollars, so it was worth the wait. So it came with multiple disks with around three to four episodes of Planet Earth on each of the disks. If you did not know already each episode of Planet Earth is one hour long. So once I put in Planet Earth to view on our HDTV I went to the menu of the first disk for the first episode. As you can imagine it was quite amazing how well the picture looked. All of the landscapes were full as can be in color and the animals looked as if they were flowing across the screen as they moved. I was impressed also on how well Planet Earth was filmed with a HDTV camera. Some of the animals they film in the movie looks as if they are right there next to them and the animals are not even being disturbed by them being around. It is truly the most amazing documentary of its type. One episode that really impressed me is the freshwater one.

One that really shows what I am talking about is the caves episode. Basically what it shows you is the underground world of Earth. How things form under the surface and the weird little creatures that inhabit the caves. It is truly something that will be hard for most people living on the planet Earth to believe once they have seen some of the amazing animals that live on it. This documentary is truly amazing especially if viewed on a HDTV!

Zixi Announces $4 Million Investment Round

WALTHAM, Mass. -- ZixiTM, the leading enabler of broadcast-quality HDTV globally over the cloud, today announced it has secured $4 million via an investment led by Boston-based private investment firm Schooner Capital. Industry veterans Sidney Topol, former chairman and CEO of Scientific Atlanta, and Maurice "Reese" Schonfeld, co-founder and first chief executive of CNN and the founder and former president of Food Network, invested alongside Schooner Capital.

You can solve the problem by simply choosing the best input device for your HDTV. You can ask for recommendation from the seller or from the service provider or manufacturer of the HDTV. You can also place a DVD into the letterbox bars. You can also determine if there is something wrong with the brightness level by looking into the eyes of the people on the screen. If their eyebrow appears to be more prominent and you can hardly see the eyes anymore, there is a huge chance that the level of brightness is too low. However, it will definitely spoil all the fun when you realize that you are not getting what you have expected from an HDTV. For one, the image may not be clear at all. If you are having this trouble, then perhaps you need to do the following:1. Adjust the room lighting. You can definitely adjust the size of the screen, but you would be able to watch all your favorite shows and TV programs more effectively if you do so in a controlled lighting. Usually, people have the hobby of watching television when everything seems dark. In case you do not know, it will cause strain in your eyes, and you will develop headaches later on.WHY THIS MATTERS:“This financing enables Zixi to further establish a world-class team and complete the delivery of our end-to-end infrastructure software-as-a-service (ISaaS) solution to companies that need to broadcast and deliver flawless HD content securely over the Internet with speed and ease,” said Israel Drori, CEO and Founder of Zixi. “The new investment from Schooner Capital, along with Reese Schonfeld and Sid Topol, further validates the Zixi software solution to enable broadcast-quality HDTV globally over the public Internet. HDTV: How to Make the Most Out of It

If you own an HDTV, then you are lucky. You are one of the few who can take advantage of this amazing technology. With it, it is as if you are watching your favorite movie or television program right inside a theater. The images are clear and crisp, and the sound is very sharp.

Prime Focus Technologies (PFT):About Schooner CapitalAbout Zixi, LLCABOUT PRIME FOCUS TECHNOLOGIESFor you to be able to properly control the contrast level, you can watch a show or a movie that will take you to a sequence with a white object. To give you an example, you can watch Bruce Almighty and freeze the screen where you can see Morgan Freeman. He is dressed all white, but there are also other colored details around. Set the contrast level to its highest, and then slowly reduce it until you can clearly see all the details of the white object. Perhaps you want to see the buttons of his shirt or the linings of his pocket.3. Check the contrast level. Not a lot of HDTV buyers actually know that when you purchase the unit, the contrast level is set to the maximum. This is how the stores are able to showcase the vivid colors of the images, considering that the lights can be very strong. If you are not going to adjust it, though, there is a huge probability that you may suffer from eye strain, especially if you are going to watch the television in very dim rooms. It will also destroy the quality of your TV. You would also not reduce the contrast level too low, or you will also reduce the quality of the images on your television.Founded in 2006, Zixi is the leading enabler of flawless, broadcast-quality HDTV over the cloud. Broadcasters, enterprises and video-on-demand services use Zixi to enrich user experience, create new services and significantly reduce costs. Another thing that you may want to adjust is the brightness of your television. If everything appears to be dark, you want to increase the brightness level; however, this is not completely advisable since you will also reduce the saturation of the color. The images will not be very vivid. It is also not a good idea to set the brightness level too low, because you will not be able to create the details of the shadows. You cannot also separate the dark from the light areas.

HDTV can provide you a real entertainment deal, but you will definitely learn to appreciate it more if you can set the colors right.

Samsung Demonstrates PenTile RGBCW Multiprimary LCD with 2D RGB Local Dimming Backlight for Ultra-Low Power Next-Gen HDTVs

LOS ANGELES -- At SID Display Week 2011 International Symposium May 17-19 in Booth 707 at the LA Convention Center, Samsung is exhibiting a first-of-its-kind technology developed with its affiliate Nouvoyance that blends three leading-edge technologies to enhance ultra-low power High Definition TV (HDTV) display products while enabling dramatic power savings. In this demonstration, frame sequential color (FSC), PenTile® technology, and RGB local dimming have been combined to produce a TV display technology that features a wider array of colors, virtually eliminates color breakup, and operates at approximately 25 percent of the power of legacy LCD TV technology.

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. -- BigBand Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:BBND), today announced that Cox Communications, the third-largest U.S. cable operator, has further expanded its switched digital video (SDV) architecture to new markets with BigBand's SDV solution. Cox was an early adopter of SDV architecture, and it is an honor to be selected by them again,” said Amir Bassan-Eskenazi, CEO, President and Co-founder of BigBand Networks.Cox began deploying the BigBand SDV solution in 2007. One-Piece Cable for Mirroring iPad(R) 2 and iPhone(R) 4 Display on HDTV Available for Consumers This Summer Announces RedMere, Pioneer of Active Cable Technology

RedMere®, the pioneer of smart active cable technology for HDMI, announced that its single-cable solution for mirroring the iPad® 2 and iPhone® 4 display to an HDTV will be available to U.S. consumers this summer and will be sold by the company's brand-name marketing partners. RedMere said the new cable will be an integrated unit eliminating the need for a "dongle" and separate HDMI cable. The sleek all-in-one RedMere cable will incorporate the company's self-powered integrated circuit which lets users directly connect their iPad 2, iPhone 4, and fourth-generation iPod® Touch to an HDTV or other high definition display or projector.

"This will be the coolest, most convenient way to show iPad 2 content on HDTVs for friends, family, co-workers, or customers," said Peter Smyth, RedMere CEO and founder. "RedMere's smart active cable technology lets you do away with the dongle and gives you a portable connection that's far thinner, lighter and more flexible than conventional HDMI cables. We're talking about a cable up to 15 feet long which still slips into your pocket or purse -- perfect for business presentations, movies, or games."BigBand Networks’ brand and product names are service marks, trademarks or registered trademarks of BigBand Networks, Inc. in the United States and other countries. All other marks are the property of their respective owners.Samsung and Nouvoyance have been able to blend fixed color filters with clear subpixels of FSC using a PenTile RGBCW (red, green, blue, cyan, and white) color filter array. A 2D dimming RGB backlight has been highly localized to work in conjunction with the PenTile RGBCW array. The PenTile technology’s white (W) subpixels are clear and capable of crisply transmitting Red, Green, or Blue light from the backlight as needed in any given display zone. Color breakup is nearly eliminated when the color primaries are independently chosen for each zone to minimize field-to-field color excursions of the FSC display. Algorithms have been developed to analyze images, calculate gamut mapping, determine subpixel rendering and control the backlight. These techniques will be demonstrated for both still and video images. For this technology demonstration, a 15.1-inch 816 x 490 LCD is used, but the panel can be readily scaled to larger sizes and finer resolutions. All trademarks are the property of their respective rights holders.“The increased definition of HDTV has motivated the industry to move to ever-increasing TV sizes. With these increases in diagonal dimension, TV power consumption has grown at a rapid rate. The home TV is now a major consumer of power, and with this comes the need for greater innovation to achieve higher levels of TV power savings,” Dr. Shin added.RedMere's brand partners include VIZIO®, Inc., Samsung®, PNY Technologies®, Inc., Monster®, and RadioShack®; the company would not reveal whether these brands or others would market the iPad 2 mirroring cable technology. Smyth said the product's retail pricing would be determined by RedMere's partners.
